Gossip isn’t the only priority on Wendy Williams’ mind.
On Monday, the talk show host used her platform to announce a new project in the wake of her own substance abuse struggles. With awareness of the ongoing issue of drug abuse in all communities, The Williams family’s Hunter Foundation has joined forces with T.R.U.S.T. to create 1-888-5HUNTER, a hotline to help those with addiction.
The 24-hour hotline is dedicated to serving as a resource for individuals suffering from drug addiction and substance abuse. It will also offer support and education for friends and loved ones. It’s designed to cater to everyone nationwide. Wendy explained to viewers that every call will be handled specially by certified recovery coaches.
“These people will provide you, should you want help, with referrals and treatment facilities. If that’s you, we’re here to help,” she said.
The extended services include recommendations to treatment facilities like outpatient centers, rehabs, and more that compliment each persons’ financial circumstance. Individuals seeking help will take part in an evaluation process to properly provide the correct care needed, according to a press release.
T.R.U.S.T. President Ron Clinton shared his excitement to work with The Hunter Foundation in sharing the message of “hope.”
“We are pleased to partner with The Hunter Foundation to help spread the message that there is hope and recovery can work! With over 70,000 overdose deaths in the past year, we can make an impact together to combat this crisis through awareness and treatment. We are grateful to the Hunter family for undertaking this initiative and for asking T.R.U.S.T. to facilitate this life-saving effort.”
