New reports show Nipsey Hussle was picking up clothes for his friend when he was fatally shot.
Our hearts remain heavy over the loss of our beloved #NipseyHussle. The rapper was dedicated to enriching his neighborhood and its people – his people – in every way he could. His compassionate heart is reportedly why he was at his Marathon Clothing shop the day he was killed; he was getting clothes for an “old friend” who had just been released from prison. According to TMZ, Nip stopped by the store, which is located at 3420 W. Slauson Ave., to quickly pick up the clothes for this friend so he’d have something fresh to wear when the former prisoner met with his family and friends on Sunday.
TMZ reports that same friend was with Hussle at the time of the shooting, reportedly along with Nipsey’s nephew. Reports say both were injured in the shooting. Nipsey’s visit to the store wasn’t planned with anyone on the 33-year-old’s team. No one knew about the brief stop Nipsey needed to make to his shop.
Thankfully, the person suspected of killing Nipsey, 29-year-old #EricHolder, was arrested on Tuesday in Bellflower, California. Police took Holder into custody at around 1:30 p.m.; Holder’s identity was officially confirmed later. However, according to TMZ, the alleged Chevrolet Cruz getaway driver, who is said to be a female, was released from police custody after questioning.
Nipsey Hussle’s album “Victory Lap” was nominated for Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy Awards ceremony. Nipsey will always be remembered for delivering a pure, authentic Los Angeles sound, his philanthropic efforts, his advanced business mindset, and his humble heart.
Rest in paradise, Nipsey. #RipNip
