Oscar Pistorius won’t be getting out of jail this week after all. Pistorius, who is serving a 5 year sentence after mistakenly shooting his girlfriend, was eligible for parole this month. According to reports, South Africa’s justice minister has blocked his early release, so he’ll be sitting behind bars a little while longer. Â
According to the judge, the decision to release Pistorius early was premature and without legal basis. “One sixth of a five year sentence is 10 months and at the time the decision was made Mr Pistorius had served only over six months of his sentence,”  South Africa’s Justice Minister Michael Masutha said in a statement.Â
Pistorius was due to be transferred to house arrest on Friday where he would have been confined to his uncle’s 3-story mansion in Pretoria. The board will now review their decision, which could take several months. In the meantime, Oscar will have to wait.Â
