Upon the resurgence of 90s fashion, many old school fashion labels are making a comeback, including the sportswear line created for us, by us, FUBU. In fact, just last month, the co-founding group released their first new in-house designs in seven years, as part of a new collaboration with Century 21.
Now, one of the brand’s co-founders, Daymond John is opening up about what it took to build a brand. In a new interview with Baller Alert, the “Shark Tank” panelist, shared a few business tips and more
“A businessman or a businesswoman is the ones that make money. Entrepreneurs are the ones who just say they are entrepreneurs,” John said. “You have to make money, and you have to do something you love. Surround yourself with like-minded people and be ready to fail a bunch of times.”
“I was saying I was an entrepreneur too before I made anything,” he continued. “It’s wishful thinking. It’s hopefully trying to speak it into existence.”
As John continued, he explained how Magic Johnson’s recent decision to resign from President of the Lakers as an entrepreneurial decision.
“If he’s leaving the Lakers, Magic has really great intuition, and I’m sure he’s doing something that he feels is bigger and better for his family,” he said. “That’s what entrepreneurs do. They don’t stay because they’re risking fear of what’s going happen. They move forward because they want to be where the balls gonna go instead of where the ball was at.”
