On Sunday, Nene and Gregg Leakes appeared on the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reunion, sharing shocking details about the current state of their marriage and the possibility of divorce.
When asked about the status of their relationship, Nene and Gregg revealed that his battle with colon cancer made things more difficult for the couple.
Gregg admitted that his health crisis made him become more aware of how unkind he was to his wife and apologized during the reunion.
“So there have been a lot of times where I’ve said and done something unfavorable to my wife. She does the best she can do,” said Gregg.
Nene was very transparent about how cancer has affected their relationship. The reality star made it clear that she deserves to be happy and if her husband hadn’t fallen ill, they would already be divorced.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Gregg is not a walk in the park. Not even if he didn’t have cancer, he is not a walk in the park,” NeNe said. “Our relationship is not great. It really put a strain on us.”
The two, who initially wed in 1997, both take the blame for their tumultuous relationship.
Although their marital issues may have pushed the couple past the point of no return, both Nene and Gregg have stated that they are family and will always be in each other’s lives.
“The reward might not necessarily be that we are husband and wife at the end,” said Gregg. “The reward might be that we are best friends at the end.”
