Back in February, just two days after Jennifer Lopez celebrated the longstanding history of Motown Records with an energetic performance, Cedric the Entertainer hosted a star-studded tribute to the Detroit-based label at the Los Angeles Microsoft Theater.

Complete with performances by Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Fantasia, Boys II Men, Chloe x Halle and many more, “Motown 60: A Grammy Celebration” paid homage to the hard work and dedication of Berry Gordy. In fact, during the celebration, Gordy, the founder of the groundbreaking record label said his dream to make music for “all people” had been fulfilled through the label’s 60-year “legacy of love.”

“My dream came true,” Gordy said of his label, which was the home of several superstar artists, including Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Ross, The Temptations and more. “I want to thank all of you fans, and your parents, and their grandparents. All around the world. I could say their great grandparents, but that would make me older than I want to be.”

“We didn’t even realize the impact of Motown,” Gordy continued. “In those early days, the unsung heroes had the courage to follow me down a road that didn’t even exist.”

Though the star-studded Grammy-presented tribute concert was taped in February, the show will air on Easter Sunday on CBS.
