Robyn Crawford is finally ready to break the silence on her personal relationship with the legendary Whitney Houston.
According to a press release, “A Song For You: My Life With Whitney Houston,” is set to be released in November and will detail the beginning of their friendship in New Jersey in the 1980s, as well as several accomplishments in Houston’s career, where she was often by the singer’s side.
Through the memoir, Crawford hopes to give the world “understanding of the complex life” of the Grammy-award winning singer, who passed in 2012.
“Whitney Houston is as big a superstar as the music business has ever known. She exploded on the scene in 1985 with her debut album and spent the next two decades dominating the charts and capturing the hearts of fans around the world. One person was there by her side through it all,” a release by Penguin Random House read.
“Since Whitney’s death in 2012, that trusted and loyal friend, Robyn Crawford, has stayed out of the limelight and held the great joys, wild adventures, and hard truths of her life with Whitney close to her heart. In A Song for You, Robyn breaks her silence to share the moving and often complicated story of her life and relationship with Whitney,” the release continued.
“With warmth, candor, and an impressive recall of detail, Robyn gives readers insight into Whitney’s life and career. She traces the years from when she and Whitney first met as teenagers in the 1980s to the recording of Whitney’s first album and the infinite success that followed. From countless sold-out world tours to her epic rendition of the US national anthem to the set of The Bodyguard, her tempestuous marriage, and the birth of her only child, Robyn was there.”
Elsewhere in the release, longtime assistant and best friend of Houston referred to herself as the “person who knew her best,” which doesn’t come to a surprise to many who saw the nearly unbreakable bond between the two depicted in “The Bobby Brown Story” last fall. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
Bobby Brown, the ex-husband of Houston, has been quite vocal over the years about his wife’s alleged affair with Crawford. In 2016, Brown shared in an interview with US Weekly that Houston was bisexual and hid her relationship with Crawford out of fear of judgment from her family.
Brown added that Crawford could have even saved Houston’s life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I really feel that if Robyn was accepted into Whitney’s life, Whitney would still be alive today,” said Brown. “She didn’t have close friends with her anymore.”
