A gunman opened fire at the Chabad of Poway Synagogue in Poway, California earlier today. The shooting left one dead and three others injured, according to law enforcement officials.
Chabad of Poway hosts weekly luncheons that follows the morning Shabbat services, as well as holding a celebration for Passover.
Police say a male suspect has been detained for questioning after turning himself in shortly after using an assault rifle during the shooting spree.
Today marks the six month anniversary of the massacre at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue.
Of the four shooting victims, Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein was shot in the hand, another member of the congregation, a woman (who has not yet been identified) died of her gunshot wounds. The other two victims; one a young child were transported to a local area medical center.
An eyewitness told CNN, that even though the Rabbi was wounded, he stayed with his congregation, speaking with members in an attempt to calm their fears and pledging resilience.
The Mayor Of Poway, Steve Vaus, has called the attack a hate crime. Trump has offered thoughts and prayers.
