Oxygen Announces New True-Crime Documentary Inspired By Kim Kardashian’s Criminal Justice Efforts

Just hours after reports surfaced of Kim Kardashian’s successful efforts to release nonviolent inmates, Oxygen has announced a new collaboration with the socialite in honor of her new passion. 

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the NBCUniversal-owned cable network has teamed up with Kardashian, Mark Wahlberg, and Ice-T to produce three new series as part of its 2017 rebranding slate. 

“Oxygen is tremendously excited to work with some of the biggest names in the industry on such important projects,” executive VP of original programming and development said of the new projects. “This year, we’ve increased our original hours by more than 30 percent, and we’ll keep ramping up our programming efforts as more fans flock to the network to experience best-in-class content.

In collaboration with Kim Kardashian, the network has ordered a new two-hour documentary inspired by the socialite’s criminal justice efforts, as she pursues her passion, a career in law and works to free other nonviolent prisoners. Kardashian will also executive produce the project. With Wahlberg, the active-crime investigation series, “Exploited” from the actor’s “unrealistic ideas” is in development, set to highlight the work of the DeliverFund, which works to limit sex trafficking in this country. Ice-T and the Content Group have signed on to executive produce “Framed by the Killer,” which is also in development at the network, as it serves to examine cases where the actual killer frames the suspect. 

In addition to that, the new slate also includes a project from Jason Blum’s Blumhouse about the outrageous crimes in Florida, piggybacking off the “Florida Man” Internet meme, which initially went viral in 2013 and again in 2018- Thanks to Donald Glover’s ‘Atlanta.’

Other projects in the works at Oxygen include, “Injustice With Nancy Grace,” “The DNA of Murder With Paul Holes,” “Relentless With Kate Snow,” “Truth & Justice: The West Memphis Three,” “The Lover’s Lane Murders,” “The Jane Doe Murders,” and “The Vanished Project.”
