Arizona Cardinals have signed Kyler Murray as their No.1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft.
On Thursday, the Arizona Cardinals announced the signing of six rookie players, including Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray. USA Today reports the Cardinals also signed cornerback Byron Murphy (No. 33 overall out of Washington), defensive end Zach Allen (No. 65 overall out of Boston College), receiver KeeSean Johnson (174th overall out of Fresno State), tackle Joshua Miles (No. 248 overall out of Morgan State) and tight end Caleb Wilson (254th overall out of UCLA, also known as “Mr. Irrelevant”).
Some of Murray’s stats include passing 4,361 yards with 42 touchdowns. He also only had seven passes intercepted last season at Oklahoma, where he won the Heisman Trophy. The Texas native also ran for another 1,001 yards and 12 more scores.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the deal is for four years and $35.2 million fully guaranteed with a fifth-year option. Murray was also the Oakland Athletics’ first round pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, which secured a deal worth $4.66 million with a $5 million signing bonus. Murray reportedly turned down an offer of an additional $14 million from the team if he chose baseball over football.
Congrats, Kyler!
