Murder Inc. head huncho Irv Gotti first made mention of a documentary and tv series based on the iconic label’s rise and fall from grace three years ago, in an interview with AXS. “[It] is going to change s**t. And it’s coming out, like, beyond my expectations.”
Irv’s last mention of the projects were in January of this year, when he posted a 2002 Source cover photo of himself surrounded by the label’s former artists including Ja Rule, Ashanti, Charli Baltimore, and Cadillac Tah with a caption that read, “Everything will be told. The good. The bad. Everything. With my Murder Inc TV Series. I’m taking my time. Cause it has to be perfect. But for sure. It’s coming!!”
Now, it looks like not only is the documentary and tv series still in the works but the Queens native has also added a 20th Anniversary Murder Inc Tour coming up with Live Nation. As a matter of fact, he’s partnered up with Live Nation for all three projects.
Irv Gotti posted to his Instagram this week, sharing a promo photo for the documentary featuring him and Ja Rule, accompanied by the announcement of the upcoming projects. “Started working on the Doc with my guy MICHAEL PAYTON. Yes. The same guy who did such a brilliant job with the Unauthorized Documentary. #csuitemusic I am putting him on and letting him Direct. Write. And Produce Me and #ruleyorkcity MURDER INC STORY. And we promise to tell the TRUTH and nothing but the TRUTH. From Birth Til Now. All the GREAT SHIT. To the BAD SHIT”, he wrote.
The caption continued, “It’s gonna be brought to you by #visionaryideas of course and LIVE NATION!!! Which will be followed by the MURDER INC TV SERIES. Which will SHOW YOU THE WHOLE STORY. Also partnered with LIVE NATION for that. But 1st the 20th Anniversary Murder Inc TOUR!! With LIVE NATION. Coming soon!!”
Release dates for the documentary and tv series projects have yet to be announced as well as the tour dates but with this much time and preparation involved, it’s bound to be worth the wait!
