Philadelphia District Attorney Requests New Trial For Meek Mill Without Controversial Judge

The Philadelphia District Attorney is demanding a new trial for Meek Mill, without Judge Genece Brinkley on the bench.

According to TMZ, the D.A.’s office in the city of Brotherly Love recently filed documents in Pennsylvania Superior Court to petition for a new trial. Although Judge Brinkley, the controversial judge presiding over Meek’s case, previously rejected the rapper’s appeal and petition for a retrial, the D.A.’s office is also demanding Brinkley be removed from the case, citing the judge’s history of bias to back their request. 

As part of the office’s evidence against Brinkley, the attorneys highlighted a surprise visit the judge made to a homeless shelter where Meek was scheduled to complete court-ordered community service – which extends beyond a judge’s duties. According to the court documents, attorneys also accused Brinkley of abusing her discretion with the rapper’s 2 to 4-year sentence for “technical violations” of his probation.” On top of all of that, Brinkley has repeatedly refused to recuse herself from the case. 

As a result, the D.A believes Meek deserves a new fair, trial without Brinkley on the bench.
