Following the season premiere of PBS children’s show ‘Arthur,’ which recently introduced one of its main characters as gay, streaming service Hulu has its own openly gay character being introduced to the masses.
‘The Bravest Knight’ is Hulu’s new groundbreaking animated kids series based on the popular children’s book ‘The Bravest Knight Who Ever Lived’ by Daniel Ericco, which features a same-sex couple as the lead characters.
The series chronicles the life of two dads, Sir Cedric (voiced by T.R. Knight) and Prince Andrew and shares the story of how a young pumpkin farmer became the bravest knight who ever lived. Sir Cedric shares his story with his adopted 10-year-old daughter Nia, who is training to become a brave knight herself and learns important values such as honor, justice, and compassion.
‘The Bravest Knight’ stars Bobby Moynihan, Storm Reid, RuPaul, Christine Baranski, Wanda Sykes, Wilson Cruz, Teri Polo, Steven Weber, Donna Murphy, AJ McLean and more as voice-over talent. The series stands as one of the first children’s television series with an openly gay main character ever.
The first five episodes of the series launch on June 21st.
