R. Kelly’s accusers are testifying to a federal grand jury, alleging that the singer was accommodating travel plans for the underage girls he had sexual relationships with.
During Wednesday’s hearing, numerous witnesses claimed Kelly’s team arranged and secured travel to move them across state lines for sexual purposes while they were underage and were under the direction of Kelly himself.
According to TMZ, the grand jury has also heard testimony that could lead to obstruction of justice indictments. One of Kelly’s accusers testified the singer’s team paid off witnesses to not testify in the 2008 child pornography trial, to which he was acquitted; and one of the families that was supposedly paid off by Kelly was the family of the alleged victim in the 2008 trial, his goddaughter.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Witnesses in the 2008 case were allegedly sent on vacation during the trial, so they wouldn’t be available to testify. The grand jury testimony also revealed Kelly’s team arranged the 2008 witnesses’ travel as well.
Prosecutors in the Northern District of Illinois are currently building a case against Kelly, which is separate from 2 other ongoing cases in New York.
