The Cosmopolitan hotel has decided to publicly apologize to Philly rapper Meek Mill after threatening him with arrest for trespassing, and according to TMZ, Meek will accept their apology. Multiple sources have informed the publication of the “significant public apology” the Cosmo will issue, expressing regret for the mistreatment of Meek.
Joe Tacopina, Meek’s lawyer, was prepared to file a lawsuit against the hotel this week claiming racial discrimination and defamation, as he claimed there is a blacklist for black rappers at the Cosmo, but the hotel sources say that’s untrue.
Meek apparently isn’t the only black entertainer (or regular person) to have had issues with The Cosmopolitan and other surrounding Las Vegas hotels and casinos. TMZ reports O.J. Simpson’s lawyer reached out to Tacopina and shared that O.J. had been mistreated by the Cosmo as well in November 2017. O.J. was reportedly kicked out after staff claimed he was intoxicated and unruly and was permanently banned from the property.
Snoop Dogg’s team also reached out, claiming mistreatment by the Cosmo.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The lawsuit Tacopina planned to file has since been dropped, and with Meek’s acceptance of their apology, it seems like the incident will be put behind everyone. Hopefully, no more confrontations like this one will happen again at The Cosmopolitan.
