A grand jury has reportedly indicted Cardi B on multiple charges, including two felonies in regards to a brawl at a New York strip club last August.
Cardi was arrested in October for allegedly ordering an attack on two strip club bartenders, Jade and Baddie G. The women claim they were injured during the brawl when members of Cardi’s crew began throwing bottles and chairs. The incident was reportedly triggered by Cardi’s accusations that Jade was sleeping with her husband, Offset.
Cardi initially only faced misdemeanor assault and reckless endangerment but the grand jury superseded those charges and slapped the rapper with 14 charges, including two counts of felony attempted assault with intent to cause serious physical injury. Other charges include misdemeanor reckless endangerment, assault, criminal solicitation, conspiracy, and harassment.
According to ABC News, the indictment will not be unsealed until her arraignment Tuesday afternoon. Cardi rejected a plea deal, which TMZ reports, would have given her a conditional discharge in return for pleading guilty to a misdemeanor.
Last year, an attorney for the two women said in a statement, “Cardi B ordered and committed violent assaults against my clients and is being called to justice for her crimes. Apparently, she thinks her celebrity status puts her above the law, since she has bragged to multiple people and on social media that she orchestrated these vicious attacks. But reality is setting in, as justice does not care whether her name is Cardi B or Carly B, and she will now answer for her crimes.”
The decision to take the case to the grand jury stemmed from information discovered during the prosecution’s investigation, but no specifics were given on the additional info.
