DaBaby has been sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation for a fatal shooting at a Huntersville, N.C. Walmart last November. He also was sentenced to 30 days in jail. However, the jail time has been suspended.
Mecklenburg District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Meghan McDonald told The Charlotte Observer the rapper was found guilty of carrying a concealed firearm, and police confirmed they didn’t plan to pursue any additional charges against DaBaby.
Last November, DaBaby was arrested for shooting and killing 19-year-old Jalyn Domonique Craig during the Walmart incident. DaBaby, born Jonathan Kirk, was never charged with Craig’s death but was slapped with a misdemeanor charge for carrying a concealed firearm.
DaBaby has consistently maintained that he was acting in self-defense during the altercation. Following the incident, he even posted to his IG story to confirm his involvement, stating that the safety of himself and his family was threatened when Craig approached him in the Walmart.
