The Scenic Eclipse isn’t your average cruise ship. In fact, it’s being referred to as a “discovery yacht,” considering the unique offerings of luxurious accommodations and adventures available on the ship.
The vessel has a maximum guest capacity of 228 passengers who will stay in suites ranging from 345 square feet to a 2,650 square foot owners penthouse. Each suite is offered a personal butler service, and the ship’s amenities include a wide range of onboard dining options, a poolside buffet, indoor and outdoor plunge pools, and a yoga and pilates studio within the 5,920 square foot spa and fitness center. There are two helicopters and a submarine that will allow guests to take excursions beyond the ship to further explore nature on land and underseas.
With a passenger vessel of this size, safety was a top priority when coming up with the design and development of the ship. The use of cutting edge technology will allow for sailing to hard to get locations. They are equipped with GPS dynamic system, a Polar Class 6, which is the highest ice class rating and considerations to ensure the ships adaptability to extreme and changeable weather conditions. As you can imagine, the costs associated with this level of luxury travel are expected to be costly. Prices for more exclusive “bucket-list” type excursions start around $10k-$20k per person with more affordable options being offered on shorter, domestic tours.
As if that wasn’t enough to lure you onboard, Academy Award-winning actress, Dame Helen Mirren was named as the ships Godmother and will christen the vessel when it arrives in NYC on September 10th after its inaugural 13-day voyage from Reykjavik, Iceland to Quebec, Canada on August 15th.
