Dave Chappelle Releasing Fifth Stand-Up Special With Netflix Next Month

Comedic legend Dave Chappelle is back at again with his fifth Netflix stand-up special in two years entitled: “Dave Chappelle: Sticks and Stones.” After signing a lucrative deal with Netflix in 2016 to release three stand-up specials, Chappelle went beyond and dropped four. 

Now for his fifth, ‘Sticks and Stones’, the newly released trailer suggests the comedian may be addressing the criticism he faced after making jokes about transgender people and the #MeToo movement in his 2017 special ”The Bird Revelation.” 

The trailer doesn’t reveal any of Chappelle’s material, but the voiceover narration is from Morgan Freeman. “If you say anything, you risk everything,” says Freeman. “But if that’s the way it’s gotta be, OK, fine, f— it. He’s back, folks.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Netflix deal called for two previously unseen sets from his personal collection (‘The Age of Spin’ and ‘Deep in the Heart of Texas’) as well as one original, ‘Equanimity.’ ‘The Bird Revelation,’ which was filmed at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, was released simultaneously with ‘Equanimity’ on Dec. 31, 2017.

Dave Chappelle is also set to receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center in his hometown of Washington, D.C. in October.
