Nearly seven months after Jussie Smollett claimed to be a victim of a possible hate crime, the former “Empire” actor is sticking to his word.
Over the weekend, the actor opened up about the alleged incident and explained how he’s carried on with his life since the controversial ordeal. Amid the discussion, Smollett addressed the $130,000 lawsuit the city of Chicago filed against him and even maintained his innocence, telling Daily Mail Tv: “You don’t settle when you’re telling the truth.”
As he continued, however, he refused to reveal whether or not he’d file his own lawsuit against the city, saying, “Man I ain’t got nothing to say about that.”
“I’m moving on,” he continued. “When the truth is on your side, you know everything will be fine.”
The city filed its suit against Smollett back in April, in an attempt to be reimbursed for the cost of investigating what officials believed to be false allegations of a racist and anti-gay attack. Four months later, Smollett demanded that the suit be tossed, as he insisted he had been telling the truth.
