Jada Pinkett-Smith Says Jordyn Woods Interview Was “Imperative” After Behind-The-Scenes Drama

Jada Pinkett-Smith said her Red Table Talk interview with Jordyn Woods “had to be done.”

During an interview with Metro, Pinkett-Smith opened up about her sit-down with the young model and business owner. The 47-year-old actress revealed that she initially thought the “Red Table Talk” episode would have done more harm than good for Woods. However, the interview garnered more than 33 million times since it premiered back in March, and subsequently helped catapult Woods’ career outside of the Kardashian-Jenner krew. 

Reflecting on the conversation, Pinkett-Smith said, “What was interesting about that one is I didn’t know if I would be able to do her justice because she’s so close to me.” She continued, “I really wanted to see if someone else would do the interview because I also didn’t want it to feel exploitative.” The actress reached out to Woods to do the interview following some behind-the-scenes drama, which encouraged Pinkett-Smith to defend the 21-year-old.

“A lot of things transpired behind-the-scenes that made it imperative that we do it,” Jada explained. “I really tried to wait to see if anybody else could do it. I felt like it was so new. I felt like, you’ve got one shot, and I don’t know if I’m the best place for that because of our relationship.” She added, “Like I said, there [were] so many things that transpired behind the scenes that it had to be done.”

Woods was brought to the #RedTableTalk show after news broke that the model kissed #KhloeKardashian’s ex Tristan Thompson. The drama resulted in Woods ending her friendship with longtime best friend, Kylie Jenner.
