DJ Irie is using his platform to help raise money for the Bahamas. In fact, according to reports, the official DJ for the Miami Heat has teamed up with Miami’s Rockwell nightclub and Miami’s own, Rick Ross, to throw a party for charity.
“Mixing partying and charity is always a great idea,” Irie reportedly told Page Six. “People work hard and are going through all types of things in their lives, and paying can be a great outlet for people to enjoy themselves and bring a sense of balance to their lives.”
“People feel good when they party so when you add in the charitable component it’s like you can feel good whilst doing good and what’s better than that,” he added, as he revealed how the hurricane devastation hit close to home, literally.
“For many of us South Florida residents, the Bahamas has been our go-to getaway spot for as long as we can remember,” he said. “It goes a step further for me as I perform 20 to 30 shows per year there on average. So to work there, play there and enjoy all that is beautiful in the Bahamas on a regular basis, then we need to be there for them in times of disaster as well.”
With Rick Ross set to kick off the first appearance and performance on Monday, a percentage of each bottle of Belaire Rose sold will be donated to hurricane relief efforts. In addition, all donor proceeds through Wednesday will be donated to the Irie Foundation.
“At the end of the day, it’s not about how much you can donate. It’s about being able and willing,” Rockwell group co-owner Milo Danilovic reportedly said. “Time, money, resources, goods…every little bit counts. Getting involved with a disaster relief organization, especially during the immediate aftermath of disasters like Hurricane Dorian, is important especially with funding urgent recovery efforts that are desperately needed at this time.”
