Fetuses Found In Dr's Office

Dr. Ulrich Klopfer

Police at the Will County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois launched an investigation on Thursday after more than 2,200 medically preserved fetal remains were found on the property of a deceased doctor, who passed away on September 3rd.

At around 3:30 p.m. on September 12th, an attorney representing the family of Dr. Ulrich Klopfer contacted the Will County Coroner’s Office.

The family’s attorney informed the coroner’s office that remains were discovered while going through Klopfer’s personal property, and called to request the remains be removed properly.

According to the Chicago Tribune, investigators from the sheriff’s office and coroner’s office found 2,246 medically preserved fetal remains on the rural Will County property.

Klopfer was a doctor at an abortion clinic in South Bend, Indiana until his license was suspended indefinitely in 2016,  after Indiana’s attorney general alleged Klopfer violated state law nine times by failing to provide qualified personnel to monitor patients undergoing surgical abortion procedures and was once charged with a misdemeanor for failing to timely file a public report in Lake County, Indiana. That charge was related to an abortion he performed in 2012 on a 13-year-old girl, court documents stated, according to the Associated Press.

An ongoing investigation is continuing with the assistance of both the offices of the Will County sheriffs and the Will County state’s attorneys.
