In 2002, a high school basketball player was introduced to the world on the cover of a Sports Illustrated magazine titled, “The Chosen One.” Who would’ve guessed that this top-ranking player from Akron, Ohio would turn into one of the league’s greatest players? (….All of us, amiiright?)
As a junior, Lebron James was averaging 30pts each game, so it’s no wonder why he was featured in the magazine. On the cover, he is seen wearing his high school jersey with the #23, which is now being auctioned. According to reports, James gave the jersey to a friend, and it could easily sell for $300,000 or higher. The amount of money a sports enthusiast or anyone looking to own a piece of Lebron James memorabilia could be exorbitant. The bidding begins in October through Goldin Auctions.
