Just when we thought the scandalous details to the case involving Tekashi 6ix9ine (born Daniel Hernandez) was almost over, the plot continues to thicken. According to Complex,  6ix9ine’s driver, Jorge Rivera was a key person in court Monday as proceedings continued.

According to reports, Rivera testified that he spoke with law enforcement officials “about cooperating” as a confidential informant following his arrest by ICE last year. After they let him go, he went back to being 6ix9ine’s driver, but this time he was also an undercover informant.

Rivera reportedly told the court that he became an informant in July of 2018. He shared in court that the vehicle he was driving 6ix9ine around in, was equipped with two cameras. Despite the footage coincidently capturing 6ix9ine’s carjacking and alleged kidnapping, which was released last week in court, Rivera says that installing cameras is common practice for his car service.

According to Rivera, 6ix9ine had no knowledge of him being an informant at the beginning, but he may have eventually become suspicious. “Did you ever come to believe that Tekashi suspected you of cooperating,” Rivera was asked. Rivera responded, “Yes, toward the end.”

The driver’s cooperation could possibly reduce his sentence tremendously, which is reportedly a minimum of 17 years and a maximum of life.
