Up-and-coming Chicago rapper #CupcakKe announced in an emotional 18-minute Instagram live video that she is quitting music.
The video starts with CupcakKe sitting on what looks like a hotel bed, wrapped in a blanket. She begins by saying, “So this live is going to be the last video that y’all see of me.”
”All of my music will be coming off every platform,” she said, adding, ”I decided to give up. I decided to give up. I don’t want to say give up, let go of music because I feel as though I’m corrupting the youth.”
The songstress, who wrote her super sexual songs when she was 16 to 17-years-old, said she didn’t really care back then, but now she does. “I want to go to heaven after this, and I don’t want to go to hell. Just seeing all-age kids at the shows, seeing them sing along to ‘hump me’ and ‘fuck me’ and all this s—, it has torn me apart. I’m just not happy. I don’t want to be around no one right now… It’s wrong. And even if it’s OK for y’all, it’s not OK with me. I want to be normal again,” she said.
The 22-year-old rapper explained that her feelings about corrupting the youth surfaced after she saw a video of a 13-year-old girl dancing to one of her songs. She revealed that the video was her breaking point.
As she continued, she said the tour, which she described as lucrative, is officially off. She has also already removed herself from Twitter and Instagram.
As some may recall at the beginning of this year, CupcakKe was hospitalized after tweeting that she was “about to commit suicide.”
We are praying for CupcaKke and wish her all the best.
