Convicted Murderer In Wisconsin Allegedly Confesses To Killing Photographer From Netflix Docuseries ‘Making a Murderer’

A convicted murderer in Wisconsin has allegedly confessed on tape to the brutal murder of #TeresaHalbach, the photographer whose 2005 case was made famous in the hit 2015 Netflix docuseries ‘Making a Murderer’.

Halbach was killed on Halloween night after visiting the home of Steven Avery, now 57. Avery and his nephew, Brendan Dassey, now 29, were convicted of her murder and were given life sentences in 2007. Both maintain that they are innocent and say that they did not kill the 25-year-old photographer in Wisconsin.

The director of the upcoming second docuseries ‘Convicting a Murderer,’ Shawn Rech, said that during a recent interview occurring while his crew was filming the series, they were given an alleged confession by a “notable convicted murderer from Wisconsin.” Rech did not disclose the inmate’s name, which apparently cannot be named until authorities have the confession, according to Newsweek.

Rech also did not share exactly what was said is the confession, but he did disclose that the confession did not come from Avery or Dassey. The man recorded on tape is already allegedly in prison for a separate killing.

“We haven’t confirmed the legitimacy of the confession, but seeing as it was given by a notable convicted murderer from Wisconsin, we feel responsible to deliver any and all possible evidence to law enforcement and legal teams,” Rech told Newsweek.

However, in the wake of the news, according to TMZ, the Department of Justice said, ” “it’s important to note that this new information directly contradicts information previously provided by the same individual.”

Dassey was only 16 when he told investigators that he helped his uncle rape and murder the photographer. No physical evidence was ever found that actually linked Dassey to the crime, but he was convicted on his statements to investigators. Some have argued that his confession was improperly obtained.

Both Avery and Dassey have said that they were framed for the murder by law enforcement who were angry with Avery for suing the county over his wrongful conviction for a sexual assault. Avery spent 18 years in prison for an assault he did not commit, which DNA proved he was telling the truth.

‘Convicting A Murderer’ is a 10-part series that will premiere in 2020.
