Authorities say the mistress of ex-NFL player Buster Barnett kidnapped his wife and killed her, before taking her own life.
49-year-old Sandra Barnett, a special needs teacher, was kidnapped from her Georgia home by Lisa Brown on Wednesday afternoon. Buster Barnett had been carrying on an affair with Lisa Brown for several years. Clayton County Police say Sandra was on the phone with a friend when Lisa arrived at her home in a Dodge Durango that belonged to Buster Barnett. Sandra Barnett could be heard through the phone arguing with someone before saying “please don’t hurt me.” She also didn’t seem to know the person she was arguing with. On Thursday, Carroll County authorities spotted the Dodge Durango and chased it down Interstate 20. Alabama State Troopers joined in once the chase crossed state lines. Suddenly Lisa Brown stopped the vehicle in the middle of the highway, shot Sandra Barnett and then turned the gun on herself.
A police investigation uncovered receipts showing Brown recently purchased handcuffs. This isn’t the first time Lisa Brown has been accused of kidnapping, either. Lisa Brown was currently on probation for kidnapping in Texas. According to law enforcement, Brown kidnapped her child that she lost custody of and it took three days to track her down.
