#BallerificCharity! It’s a full-circle moment for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson, whose childhood home was funded by former Falcons RB Warrick Dunn, has now launched his own charitable foundation to help underserved communities.
Watson announced the launch of the Deshaun Watson Foundation Tuesday, which is a newly-established nonprofit charitable organization dedicated towards helping support education, health, housing, and other causes to benefit families and youth.
Watson is a living testament of the good that can come out of helping families in need. When he was a child, his mother applied for and received a brand-new home from Habitat for Humanity, with the help of funding by former Falcons running back Warrick Dunn.
Through Dunn’s ‘Warrick Dunn Charities’ foundation, he was able to team up to surprise the Watson family with a furnished home with four bedrooms, two baths, and even a full refrigerator.
Watson is now grateful for the opportunity to be able to give back. “I am humbled and honored that I have the opportunity to make a difference and positively impact children and families in need through the Deshaun Watson Foundation,” Watson said. “I would not be where I am today without the help from others. Now it’s my turn to step in and make a difference through the Foundation.”
Watson’s first event will take place on October 29 at The Great Houston Halloween Bash at Pro-Vision Academy in Sunnyside Houston.
