McKrae Game is the founder of a faith-based conversion therapy program in South Carolina called Hope for Wholeness. Hope For Wholeness was founded in 1999 and is one of the largest in the nation.
Back in 1999, Game opened Truth Ministry, a conversion therapy program that was also faith-based in South Carolina. It was geared to suppress or change an individual’s homosexuality through therapy. The organization was rebranded and named Hope for Wholeness in 2013.
But now, 20 years after its inception, Game has publicly come out as gay in a recent interview. According to PEOPLE, he decided to go public after being fired from the program a little over two years ago. However, he struggled with his sexuality for nearly three decades.
”I struggled more so trying to deny [my attraction to men] than being able to accept my attractions and say, ‘I am a gay man,’” he stated during a recent interview with Post and Courier, I was a hot mess for 26 years and I have more peace now than I ever did.”
