The 1980s series “The Equalizer,” will be getting a reboot on CBS with Queen Latifah in the lead role.
Universal Television will be producing the show in association with CBS Television Studios, and in collaboration with project creator Andrew Marlowe and executive producer Terri Miller.
“The Equalizer” ran from 1985-89, starring Edward Woodward as a retired intelligence operative who used his training to get people out of troubling situations. From this, two feature films starring Denzel Washington were also produced.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the new series will have a seemingly similar plot, with Latifah playing the role as an enigmatic woman who uses her skill set to help those who are stuck in a rut.
Husband-and-wife duo Marlowe and Miller will serve as showrunners on ’The Equalizer,’ and are set to executive produce with Latifah, John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment.
