Instead of sending out traditional paper invites or an e-vite, rap mogul and billionaire Jay Z sent bottles of Armand de Brignac (“Ace of Spades”) champagne, and Rolex Daytona watches as VIP invitations to his upcoming Shawn Carter Foundation Gala.
Friends of the rapper Meek Mill and Swizz Beatz both took to Instagram in response to receiving the lavish invites. Meek wrote a caption on his Instagram story stating, “Hov sent these as VIP passes SMH this rich s–t getting out of control lol…I’m not joking lol.” Swizz Beatz wrote, “Hov is on another level with the invite game. It came with a Daytona Rolex and a bottle of Ace.”
The yellow gold Rolex Daytona features a diamond-encrusted black dial set and sells for $40,000. The generous gift seems like a fitting way to kick off the gala, which is aimed towards raising funds to provide scholarships to students in need. The foundation and gala were founded by Jay Z and his mother Gloria Carter in 2003 to empower communities and at-risk youth. The event will be held on November 15th at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, with a performance by Alicia Keys.
