Back in 2017, Ja Rule partnered up with entrepreneur Billy McFarland in an attempt to bring a fun-filled and luxurious festival to the Bahamas. However, when attendees arrived at the Island for the first-ever Fyre Festival, things quickly took a turn for the worst.
Guests were unexpectedly left sleeping in tents and eating undersized cheese sandwiches after paying between $4,000-$12,000 for tickets. When acts from the festival lineup began to get word of the disaster, they backed out of the event altogether.
Now, after being sued by festival attendees, Rule has officially been cleared of any claims of wrongdoing in the $100 million class-action lawsuit.
Rule was originally cleared back in July. However, an appeal from McFarland’s lawyers claimed the rapper was very hands-on in the process thus was aware that the festival was going to fail.
The judge denied the appeal after it was settled that Rule was unclear of the problems leading to the festival’s catastrophic end.
Speaking out against the appeal, Rule’s lawyer stated, “In July, the Court dismissed all Fyre Festival claims against Mr. Atkins. After this loss, plaintiffs’ law firm Geragos & Geragos appealed that decision. Today, the court denied their appeal. This ruling is nothing short of a total vindication of Mr. Atkins.”
McFarland, on the other hand, is currently serving a 6-year prison sentence after being found guilty on multiple counts of fraud.
