Jussie Smollett is legally striking back against the city of Chicago, claiming that city officials created a narrative that he was the mastermind of a hoax attack, which cost him severely. As we already told you, Smollett is being sued by the City of Chicago to recoup the costs of their entire investigation into his “attack’.
But, Smollett and his legal team believe the $10,000 he was mandated to pay after the criminal case against him was closed should prevent the city of Chicago from seeking reimbursement for the police investigation, according to Fox News.
In his lawsuit, Smollett also notes the Osundairo brothers were held for 47 hours, and they adamantly denied any involvement in the assault. He says it was only after they were assured they’d get immunity did they start creating a made-up story of a fake attack plot.
According to TMZ, Smollett still insists the primary attacker was a white male. The actor maintains that he doesn’t know what involvement if any at all, the Osundairo brothers had in the attack. He reportedly believes the brothers were lured into participating in this smear campaign by cops.
He’s suing the city in his counterclaim and the brothers as well as several key officials, including the Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson.
