Is it okay to explore your options while in the “talking” phase?

How much wiggle room do you have during the talking phase of your relationship? Can you grab a few numbers while you’re out at club or is it strictly one on one: you and bae?

Here’s whats tricky: You’re technically single so you can talk to anyone you want, but you don’t want to jeopardize your chances of making it official with your boo thing. Is it okay to explore your options while your in the “talking” phase?

If you are still messing around with other options while you’re talking to bae and they find out, you’re setting yourself up for failure. When you’re “just talking” you are really getting to know that person from the inside and out. You’re setting yourself up for a fulfilling relationship, why would you want to mess that up?

I was once told to treat worthy options as a relationship because talking is pretty much setting up for  a relationship. Would you cheat on someone by entertaining another person in a relationship? No? Well don’t do it while you’re in the talking phase.

On the other hand, you are still single. You did not receive a note with “Will you go with me? Check yes or no.” There is no ball and chain attached to your ankle and your DMs are still open until your significant other closes them, so why not explore? Until that person makes it official, technically you have no obligation to them. You can go and come as you please, as long as they don’t find out and you’re probably thinking why would I miss out on the potential “the one” while giving all your attention to one person. I don’t advice this, but I know what you’re thinking.

In the end, my opinion in this: treat worthy options like relationships. No one likes a cheater, a liar, or people creeping in and out of your significant other’s DMs. Don’t think of the talking phase as time wasted, but time invested.
