Fans and Students of the University of Georgia are not happy with PETA after the American animal rights organization suggested the school remove their mascot.

Since 1956 the University has been having real-life bulldogs as their mascot simply named Uga.

So far, the school is on its 10th Uga, and each dog that gets to take on the prestigious honor is treated greatly. Uga also made history this year as Sports Illustrated gave the mascot the title as “The Greatest Mascot in college football history.”

However, after recent footage surfaced showing Uga in his dog house during a stormy game at Sanford Stadium, PETA has now deemed that the University should “retire Uga immediately.”

Taking to PETA’s official twitter to express their disgust with the way Uga is being treated, the organization stated, “HE LOOKS MISERABLE! No dog deserves to be packed up, carted from state to state, and paraded in front of a stadium full of screaming fans. Animals are NOT mascots @UGAAthletics must retire Uga immediately! He should be at home with a loving family,” the organization demanded.

PETA received backlash from this tweet from fans explaining that all bulldogs naturally make these facial expressions and that Uga is treated amazingly at the University.

The University has yet to respond to PETA.
