It appears that there is action being taken in the controversial firing of Gabrielle Union from NBC’s hit talent competition show, ”America’s Got Talent.” Fremantle and Syco, the companies behind ”America’s Got Talent,” are now claiming that they are looking further into the situation.

In their statement, they claim, “We remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees and take very seriously any questions about workplace culture. We are working with Ms. Union through her representatives to hear more about her concerns, following which we will take whatever next steps may be appropriate.”

In the wake of Union’s concerns and controversy,  SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, an American labor union representing approximately 160,000 media professionals worldwide) announced that they would be performing their own investigation into the allegations, leaving many to speculate that this is the reason behind NBC’s sudden willingness to ‘work with Union’ on the matter.

Gabrielle Union made headlines after speaking out against an uncomfortable workspace during her time with ”America’s Got Talent,” which ultimately led to her firing. According to Variety, it began when Union reported a joke to the higher-ups that was made by guest judge Jay Leno, regarding Korean and Asian culture. However, her complaints seemed to have fallen on deaf ears. Instead, Union was subjected to extensive criticism on her physical appearance, an insider close to the show revealed. According to the source, Union was told that her ever-changing hairstyles were “too black” for the show’s audience. To add insult to injury, she was also subjected to racial insensitivity. This stems from a white male contestant who auditioned with an act where he stereotypically portrayed blacks and black singers, a situation that again, went unaddressed when reported by Union.

The 47-year-old actress, nor her representatives have commented on the investigations as of yet.
