The man charged in the death of Aniah Blanchard, the stepdaughter of UFC fighter Walt Harris, spoke out in court during a hearing this week.
According to reports of the hearing, Ibraheem, 29, who faces a capital murder charge, argued that prosecutors do not have enough evidence against him. He told the judge, “Y’all have no video, no audio of me shooting anyone.”
Aniah, a 19 year old college student, was last seen at a convenience store in Auburn, Alabama, on Oct. 23. Her remains were found in a wooded area of Macon County on Nov. 25, and authorities said her death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound.
Prosecutors and court testimony have pointed to store surveillance video that reportedly shows Aniah at the location where she was last seen, and to a witness who told authorities Ibraheem had her car. According to court documents, that witness also said Ibraheem told them he shot a girl who “went for the gun.” Those claims have not been proven in court, and Ibraheem has argued that the evidence against him is hearsay.
Two other men have been charged in the case, one with first degree kidnapping and one with hindering prosecution. The district attorney has said he believes Ibraheem acted alone in the killing. Ibraheem is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
