A 19 year old man in The Colony, Texas has been charged with capital murder after police said he told detectives he killed his pregnant sister because he considered her an “embarrassment to their family.”
About a week earlier, the sister, 23 year old Virdiana, had been reported missing by her boyfriend. According to reports, her family found a note that suggested she wanted to harm herself. On Monday, The Colony police announced that her brother, Eduardo, was facing the capital murder charge after Virdiana’s body was found in an alley on Sunday. She was eight months pregnant.
Fox 4 Dallas reported that police said Eduardo told detectives it would be better if she were not around. Police also said he admitted to strangling her and to writing the note the family found.
According to police, Eduardo said he placed her body in the trunk of his car, drove about an hour and left it in a remote spot outside of town. Sgt. Aaron Woodard of The Colony Police Department said at a news conference that, as the week went on, Eduardo wanted the family to know where she was, so he went back, picked up her body and left it in the alley early Sunday morning.
Police said officers were called to the scene after the body was discovered, and Eduardo became a suspect after detectives saw him on surveillance video from the alley. “It’s not what our officers and detectives wanted to be dealing with two days before Christmas,” Woodard said.
The charge is an allegation, and the case has not been decided in court.
