Texas Church Shooting Leaves 2 Dead and 1 Critically Injured- blogged by @peachkyss
A church shooting in West Settlement, Texas has left two people dead and one in critical condition.
According to Dallas News, the paramedics treated three people with gunshot wounds. One was the shooter, who died at the hospital.
The third victim went into cardiac arrest while being transported to the hospital but was resuscitated and is in critical condition at a hospital.
The shooting was captured on a live stream of Sunday’s worship service. In the video, which has since been taken down, a person stands and pulls out a weapon, then appears to fire twice before another person shoots back, according to WFAA.
Reports say some congregants holding guns rushed toward the shooter, while others ducked under church pews, WFAA reported.
In a statement released Sunday afternoon, Gov. Greg Abbott called the shooting an “evil act of violence.”
“Places of worship are meant to be sacred, and I am grateful for the church members who acted quickly to take down the shooter and help prevent further loss of life,” Abbott said. “Cecilia and I ask all Texans to join us in praying for the White Settlement community and for all those affected by this horrible tragedy.”
Authorities have yet to release any information on possible motives. Details on the shooter under investigation.
