New artists emerge on the music scene every year, and gradually new trends and genres are formed, which explains why every decade of music is actually very different. The 2010s was one of the most influential spans in music, and with 2020 here, there’s a few artists who have already begun the takeover for the next 10 years. Here’s a list of artist to check out in 2020:

Doja Cat – Perfectly blending Hip Hop and R&B in her own unique style, Doja Cat has created her own lane and will definitely be around next year. Following hit singles like “Mooo!”, “Tia Tamera,” and “Juicy” featuring Tyga, Doja successfully dropped her 2nd studio album ’Hot Pink,’ debuting at #19 on the Billboard top 200 and taking her into the new year headed to the top of the game.

Layton Greene – The First Lady of R&B signed to Quality Control (home of Migos, Lil Yachty, Lil Baby & City Girls), Layton Greene’s debut single “Leave Em Alone” featuring Lil Baby has garnered nearly 100 million streams on Pandora and over 350 million worldwide and set the tone for how Layton’s 2020 is projected to be.

NLE Choppa – NLE Choppa is possibly the next big thing to come out of Memphis, a city with a known reputation of producing talented rap artists. At only 17, Choppa’s breakout song “Shotta Flow” went viral and propelled the rapper into a position to leverage his own record label in partnership with Warner Records. Which means, he has the opportunity to be around for a long time beyond 2020.

Lil TJay – There’s a new Bronx representative on the hip hop scene, helping usher in the new wave of NYC rappers. Lil TJay combines witty lyrics with a style and melodic flow all his own; and at only 18 years old, has grabbed the attention of the entire industry after his feature on Polo G’s track “Pop Out” and his own single “Brothers.”
