Twitter Reacts After Vanity Fair and Harper’s Magazine Contributors Mock Blue Ivy for “Having Jay-Z’s Face”

It is safe to say that Vanity Fair nor Harpers will be getting a Beyoncé interview anytime soon. Both publications are in hot water after their contributors were seen dragging 7-year-old Blue Ivy in a flurry of outrageously bold tweets.

After a holiday photo of the Carters began to circulate on social media, Vanity Fair film critic K. Austin Collins and Harper’s digital editor and journalist Violet Lucca began to exchange audacious tweets regarding Beyonce and Hov’s oldest daughter.

Collins tweeted, “I have a feeling the jay z face genes are about to really hit Blue Ivy, and I feel so sorry for her.” To which Lucca replied, “They haven’t already?” Collins then added, “You’re right. But she’s lucky–if it happens now, she’ll definitely grow out of it. Get the ugly duckling phase done early.” Lucca continued to insult the child, bitterly tweeting, “Or she’ll get plastic surgery at 16 a la Kylie Jenner, and we’ll all have to pretend that she always looked that way…I can’t allow myself to feel too sorry for the incredibly rich!”

Author, Mikki Kendall initially put the contributors and their critique of the child’s looks on blast, as the rest of Twitter soon followed.

“There’s nothing harmless about insulting a child’s features regardless of whether that child has famous parents or not.”

Both Collins and Lucca briefly made their Twitter accounts private, before deleting the Blue Ivy tweets altogether. Once the accounts were made public again, Collins tweeted an apology.

“I’m sorry about the Blue Ivy tweet — bad joke, and black girls, in particular, deserve better.”

Lucca also tweeted somewhat of an apology after the tweets went viral.

“Sorry I was cleaning my apartment while this blew up…children of famous ought to be off-limits, but time and again they haven’t been. So I said something petty and have been called ugly, old, and a racist,” she said.

Blue Ivy is a really pretty girl. Vanity Fair and Harpers Bazaar need to be ashamed of their high and mighty attitudes about beauty especially, trolling a little girl! It’s crap like this that makes it hard to believe an apology, an “explanation” or any such rhetoric from upscale media outlets. They are just basic on a big money level.

Vanity Fair and Harpers Bazaar should seriously consider replacing these child abusers with more culturally sensitive staff who do not emotionally scar children. I see Blue Ivy as being a beautiful little girl.

Have you seen these two writers, really; they need to take a look in the mirror and God bless if their kids look anything like them.

May I please have a look at the people who thought so highly of themselves that they could decide what beauty is? Show their faces! Put them on blast for us to see. Guarantee they’re jacked!
