Faith Rodgers, one of the women who accused R. Kelly of misconduct, says she has faced verbal and physical attacks since appearing in the “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary, according to an interview with “CBS This Morning.”
Rodgers spoke with the show on Thursday about life since she told her story. She said Kelly being in custody has not ended the backlash. “If anything, it’s kind of worse since he’s in jail,” she said, adding that people who were hurt are still being affected.
Rodgers appeared in the first “Surviving R. Kelly” series and is set to appear in “Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning.” She has accused Kelly of recording their sexual encounters without her consent and filed a lawsuit against him after leaving the relationship. Kelly has denied the allegations made against him and has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges.
Her father, Pastor Charles Rodgers, joined her on the show and said the family worries about her safety. According to him, she has been attacked both verbally and physically when she goes out. He called it traumatizing.
Faith and her parents also said she is not trying to profit from telling her story. Her father said the goal was to hold Kelly accountable and to support other women. Faith said that if she is asked to testify in a trial, she will do her part.
“Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning” airs Thursday night on Lifetime and features interviews with Damon Dash and other women who have come forward.
