RuPaul’s new syndicated daytime talk show won’t be moving ahead on Fox stations this fall. Ru’s eponymous program ran for a three-week trial over the summer, which was on seven Fox stations.
Fox stations have used the summer broadcast period as a time to test various series concepts in recent years. Fox has had success with quite a few trial runs of daytime shows in the past. This format has helped with launching both “The Wendy Williams Show” and “The Real” into syndication. On RuPaul’s show, he interviewed both newsmakers, and celebrities with the main focus being on empowerment and aspiration.
The News of RuPaul not continuing came after Fox Television Stations picked up a talk show that will be hosted by Nick Cannon set up for launch in fall 2020. Fans of RuPaul Charles are definitely upset, but can look forward to the 12th season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” which was renewed at VH1, and can also watch RuPaul as the star of the scripted Netflix series “AJ & the Queen” which he co-created alongside mastermind Michael Patrick King of “Sex and the City.”
