Netflix will be expanding its unscripted slate with a 10-episode order to “Love is Blind,” which is its first serialized unscripted dating series hosted by Vanessa and Nick Lachey. The show will be from the “Married at First Sight” producer Kinetic Content and will premiere globally over three weeks beginning February 13.
“Love is Blind” looks at whether age or looks play a big part in romantic relationships, or if love is truly blind. In the series, singles who would rather be loved for who they are than what they look like have signed up for an unusual approach to modern dating. They hope to meet the person they want to spend the rest of their life with but without having seen them.
The premiere of “Love Is Blind” comes a year after Netflix released its first dating show, “Dating Around,” which followed one single as they go on five blind first dates before they’re tasked with picking one match who’s worthy of a second date.
On “Love Is Blind,” the singles talk to a stream of potential love interests, and when an actual meaningful connection is made, they propose, and then they meet their fiancé for the first time. Now, engaged and back in the real world, the couples plan their wedding day, as try to figure out if they can turn their emotional connection into a physical one before the fast-approaching ceremony.
