Jordan Peele Brings Terrors Of Jim Crow South To Life Again In New HBO Drama Series “Lovecraft Country”

Oscar-winning director and comedic actor Jordan Peele is bringing the horrors of the Jim Crow south to TV screens in a new upcoming HBO drama series.

Peele is known for his frightening yet thought-provoking projects like his instant classic and directorial debut “Get Out,” and his most recent movie, “Us.” This time he’s highlighting the terrors of the Jim Crow South in a drama series called “Lovecraft Country.”

The one-hour drama is based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff, “which follows Atticus Black as he joins his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. What follows is a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback,” according to HBO. Peele will serve as an executive producer along with J.J. Abrams.

“The Last Black Man in San Francisco” star #JonathanMajors will star as Atticus Black in the show, and #YannDemange, who directed “White Boy Rick,” is set to direct. #JourneeSmollettBell, #MichaelKennethWilliams, and Courtney B. Vance have also been cast in the drama.
