The 35th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is set to kick off on May 2 at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio.
This year, late hip-hop legend Biggie Smalls, otherwise known as the Notorious B.I.G, is one of many who will be honored with entry into the prestigious club.
The legendary emcee was discovered by Diddy in the early 1990s and signed to his Bad Boy Records in 1993. Biggie Smalls met his wife, Faith Evans, (who was already signed to Bad Boy) in 1994. But, after the overwhelming success of his first album and the release of his second, Smalls was murdered on March 9, 1997, in Los Angeles. However, the rapper’s legacy lives on, and will now be memorialized in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
In appreciation for this moment, Diddy has reportedly planned a surprise for this year’s induction, according to TMZ.
This will also be the first year the event will be televised in a live broadcast.
In a statement to TMZ, Diddy said, “He & his family will be attending Biggie’s Hall of Fame induction together, with a special surprise in mind.” However, it remains unclear if the music mogul will perform in Biggie’s honor.
Although remarried, singer- Faith Evans also plans to attend the event with high hopes to accompany Diddy in his surprise!
Tickets go on sale for the ceremony Feb. 27, and the show airs on HBO, May 2nd.
Congratulations Biggie!!
