Atlanta Hawks forward Chandler Parsons is facing life-altering consequences after a drunk driver hit him, causing a three-car wreck and several serious injuries.
“Parsons was involved in an automobile accident this afternoon following practice,” the Hawks said in a statement on Wednesday, following the wreck. “Parsons has been diagnosed with a concussion and whiplash. Parsons will now enter the NBA’s concussion protocol.”
As a result of the incident, Parsons had been placed on the team’s injury report, but now, according to the baller’s lawyers, his playing career may be cut short due to the severity of his injuries.
“Chandler was in peak physical condition at the time of the wreck,” his attorneys said. “He is now working with a team of doctors to regain his health, and at this time, his ability to return to play is unclear.”
According to CNN, the accident occurred on Wednesday around 2pm, just as Parsons was heading home from practice in Brookhaven. Unfortunately, during the trip, a driver, who admitted to drinking, struck the baller, causing a three-car wreck and permanent injuries.
“The at-fault driver created utter chaos on the roadway, needlessly endangering the lives of countless motorists,” the attorneys continued. “He now stands charged with a DUI, admitted drinking, had alcohol in the car with him, passed out after causing a three-car crash at 2pm on a Wednesday in a busy intersection.”
Now, according to the publication, Parsons is dealing with permanent injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, disc herniation, and a torn labrum, in addition to the uncertainty surrounding his career.
