Clark Sisters Movie On The Way

“The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel,” set to premiere on Lifetime April 11th, will take fans inside the rise of the highest-selling female gospel group in history.

The biopic follows the modest Detroit beginnings of the five Clark sisters (Christina Bell as “Twinkie,” Kierra Sheard as “Karen,” Sheléa Frazier as “Dorinda,” Raven Goodwin as “Denise,” Angela Birchett as “Jacky”) and their mother, Mattie Moss Clark (Aunjanue Ellis). It will also explore how the group of women overcame sibling rivalries, loss, and a slew of other misfortunes in their rise in the gospel music industry.

Some of the group’s biggest singles include “He Gave Me Nothing to Lose,” “Name it Claim it,” “Hallelujah,” “You Brought The Sunshine,” and “Expect Your Miracle.” The film will feature re-recordings of several of these hits from the group.

Their estranged sister, Denise Clark-Bradford, was not present during a press run for the film. However, executive producer, Holly Carter assured that an offer to participate was extended to Clark-Bradford.

“Yes, she was absolutely given the opportunity to participate in her story,” said Carter during a TCA panel for the film.

Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, and Missy Elliott are also executive producers on the film.
