Football season is coming to an end. For some, it’s a somber time if your favorite team couldn’t make it through the playoffs, and for others, it’s almost time to see who’s going to win the biggest game of the year. Either way, Super Bowl LIV is approaching fast, and sports fans are trying to score tickets to the game in record-breaking numbers.
On February 2nd, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will take the field, and only one team will walk away as the Super Bowl champions of the season. The games are being held at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, and fans across the country are trying to sit in on the fun. Ticket prices can be found starting at $4,000 and are selling for an average of $6,785 on SeatGeek, according to reports by the New York Post. The demand is high for tickets considering the last Super Bowl win for the Kansas City Chiefs was in 1970, and the 49ers haven’t won since 1995.
The Super Bowl is one of the most-watched programs in the United States, averaging over $110 million viewers each year. Aside from the commercials, half time show performances, and arguably being the best night in football, the Super Bowl is also one of the biggest days for food consumption. It’s estimated by the National Chicken Council that Americans eat over $1.3 billion chicken wings for the game.
